Well, finally the event is over. Thank the skies. And it went off pretty well considering we had to turn, in the course of a week, over 100 people away because the venue was too small (and we wouldn’t have had enough food). But I was amazed and touched by how many people wanted to participate- if we had been able to keep selling tickets we are guessing 200-250 people would have attended. Which is quite a lot for this area. Apparently people don’t have anything better to do in January.
Because I was running around like crazy making sure there was enough food, I did not have the opportunity to take a single picture. My camera languished in a corner outside the kitchen, in hopes that I might be able to snap even a single shot, but alas. Fortunately for me fellow food blogger Aundra Weissert and her partner Shane Brill were there with cameras in hand to capture the excitement. You can find pictures here and Aundra’s account of the event here.
A little later today I will update with pictures I took of the farms as I drove around picking up food for the event. It was snowing as I drove, and all of the farms looked simply magical under their blanket of white. In the meantime, the list of farms who contributed, and without whom we never would have dreamed of having this event:

Crow Farm, Kennedyville, MD
Sassafras River Beef, Cecilton, MD
St. Brigid’s Farm, Kennedyville, MD
Chesapeake Greenhouse, Sudlersville, MD (no website!)

Plus food from these great local bakers/cheesemakers/brewers:

And our awesome venue: Unity Nursery, Church Hill, MD
And many, many thanks to all the wonderful musicians, cooks, helpers, and volunteers that made the day happen! Now I have a lobby day to help with, and then a conference, and then I’m moving… so if you don’t see many posts from me, that’s why…
